Twitter co-founder Evan Williams has confirmed that his company is working on an official application for users of the Google Android mobile operating system. The news comes only a week after Twitter announced the acquisition of the popular Tweetie app for the Apple iPhone.
Saying that many new users were reporting trouble with finding a compatible Twitter app, the company added that it recognized that some customers were being under-served and wanted to solve the problem. Details were few and far between and Twitter did not specify whether the application would be built in-house or by an established third-party firm like Twidroid, makers of an already popular Twitter application for Google Android.
