Motorola DROID to Get Android Update

Motorola DROIDGoogle’s release last week of revision 1.0 of the Android 2.0.1 software developer’s kit is a pre-cursor to a firmware update that will soon be available to owner’s of the Motorola DROID.

American wireless provider Verizon has confirmed that owners of the DROID handset on their network will be able to upgrade to Google Android 2.0.1 in the coming weeks, promising everything from bug fixes to an improved camera experience and an increase in voice quality. Google also released a new revision of the software developer’s kit for Android version 1.6.

The Motorola DROID and the Motorola Milestone, a variant currently being sold in Europe, are the only devices currently running version 2.0 of Google’s mobile operating system.
