Phone-makers PUMA and Sagem Wireless today unveiled the PUMA Phone, eco-friendly phone that can be charged from the energy of the Sun.
Sporting a 2.8 inch touchscreen with 320×350 resolution, the PUMA is officially labelled a smartphone but does not ship with any of the mainstream mobile operating systems most smartphones are known for. This fact leaves the PUMA better dubbed a high-end feature phone.
Multimedia features include a 3.5mm headphone jack, a built-in FM radio tuner, and two cameras: one 3.2 megapixel main camera with LED flash and a front-facing camera for video chat. The PUMA’s unique features center around the eco-friendly outdoorsman with a GPS bike speedometer and run tracker, a pedometer, an analogue stopwatch and a yachting compass, along with a back solar panel for Earth-friendly battery charging.
The PUMA will first be introduced in Europe in April before making its way to other markets later in 2010.
