Two new official apps have been released for the Google Android mobile operating system, giving users quick and sanctioned access to both music-streaming site Pandora and social networking spot Facebook to users of Android-powered handsets.

The Facebook application, while yet to be released, promises a full-featured experience for users via easy status updates from the home screen, a full home news feed, phone number look-up and photo sharing. Messaging, events, videos and some other features are currently missing with no ETA on an updated app to provide them. The product of a collaboration between developers from both Google and Facebook so it is not clear who and when the app will be updated again.

The Pandora app, linked to the quickly growing music site, offers users the ability to load a single home widget to play music without have the app itself loaded. Currently available for the HTC G1, Hero and myTouch 3G, the Pandora app can be downloaded via the Android marketplace.
