Flashing/Debranding Nokia Phones

DavinciTeam TutorialsWhile the step-by-step flashing tutorial on our main site covers the basic instructions to flash/debrand your phone, we’re often asked for more particular details. From basic questions to advanced ones, we’re here to offer answers!

What is the benefit of debranding? Debranding means to flash generic firmware straight from a manufacturer like Nokia as opposed to from a provider like Vodafone. Providers add their branding, links, logos and restrictions to the firmware of phone’s they release, so effects range from eyesores like ugly boot logos to real loss of use through feature restrictions that suit the provider. With DavinciTeam’s service you can quickly and easily flash generic firmware to the phone, eliminating all of the irritations of provider firmware.

Does debranding unlock my phone? No, changing the phone’s firmware will not SIM unlock your phone. DavinciTeam does not currently offer unlocking services for Nokia phones (unlocking by code is available for users on the AT&T network in the United States).

Flashing/Debranding Sony Ericsson Phones

DavinciTeam TutorialsUse this simple tutorial to quickly and easily flash your phone in order to debrand, rebrand, update or fix a firmware error!

What does it mean to debrand? Put simply, Sony Ericsson creates and releases firmware (software for a phone) when they release a new model. Before service providers (e.g. AT&T, 3, O2, et al) receive a phone to release from Sony Ericsson, they also receive the firmware for the phone. The provider then edits that firmware to include their own logos, apps and restrictions and put it on the phones they release before selling them. Debranding means to flash the original Sony Ericsson firmware to your phone, in the state it was released generically (that is, before the provider edited the firmware to add logos, apps, restrictions, etc).

What is the benefit of debranding? Debranding means to flash generic firmware straight from a manufacturer like Sony Ericsson as opposed to from a provider like Vodafone. Providers add their branding, links, logos and restrictions to the firmware of phone’s they release, so effects range from eyesores like ugly boot logos to real loss of use like AT&T’s blocking of WiFi in the C905. With DavinciTeam’s service you can quickly and easily flash generic firmware to the phone, eliminating all of the irritations of provider firmware.

Does debranding unlock my phone? No, changing the phone’s firmware will not SIM unlock your phone. That is a separate process offered by DavinciTeam for most phones; please click here for more information.
