X10, X10 Mini to Receive Android 2.1

Sony Ericsson has announced that its high-end Xperia X10, Xperia X10 Mini and Xperia X10 Mini Pro will all see an update to version 2.1 of the Google Android mobile operating system.

With the roll-out of Android 2.1 coming to Xperia handsets in Q3 2010, Sony Ericsson also promised that the X10 alone would receive further OS updates in Q4, giving the smartphone the ability to connect wirelessly to compatible televisions and record and export high definition video.

Android 2.1/Experia 10 Mini

Thanks Chris …. I have just got an X10 Mini – does the announcement mean that existing phones will be updated to 2.1 via routine updates, or have I just got a phone that is about to be replaced by a next-generation almost instantly?!!

Yes, existing phones will be updated to Google Android 2.1 – no hardware replacements yet, although they’re never far behind! :D
