Sony Ericsson Reports Heavy Q2 Losses

Sony EricssonHandset manufacturer Sony Ericsson is reporting another significant loss for the fourth straight quarter with only 13.8 million phones shipped, a 43 percent decrease from Q2 2008.

This quarterly loss equaled a total of 213 million EUR, beating dire analyst predictions but still leading company president Dick Komiyama to speculate that 2009 would get worse before it got better. Sony Ericsson is continuing to cut costs, already having eliminated 2,350 employees since the global recession began.
