Smartphone maker HTC has announced its acquisition of software firm Abaxia, a company that has been creating and distributing custom interfaces for mobile phone manufacturers and service providers since 2001.

HTC says that its experience in working with Abaxia in the past have drawn the two companies close together over the years and this move stands to benefit both companies with the strengthening of that relationship. Just what HTC plans to do with its newest division remains to be seen but further news is expected in the coming weeks.
