Android Pushes Towards China, India

Google’s Andy Rubin has said in an interview that his company is working towards pushing their Android mobile operating system into emerging markets China and India.

The story from Bloomberg News also indicates that Google will soon launch developer tools in those countries, enabling developers to more easily sell subscription services and other products from within Android applications; the move is another that pits Google Android directly against the Apple iPhone.

Despite the media’s hype of a Android/iPhone showdown, Google’s real target here is reportedly Nokia’s Symbian smartphone platform. By working together with Asian companies like Huawei and LG, Google is also likely hoping to help resolve their current Chinese predicament sooner rather than later.
