Sony Launches Music Unlimited For Android

Sony has announced that its popular Music Unlimited service is coming to Android-powered devices via a fresh app now available via the Android Market.

Powered by Qrocity, Sony’s Music Unlimited was first launched in Europe in late 2010, coming to North America in January 2011. The service allows users to stream music directly from Qrocity’s online library with the added ability to upload music as well. The service is tagged with a monthly fee of $3.99 for basic service or $9.99 for extended features.

Owners of the Sony Playstation 3 gaming console get a 180-day free trial period if they sign up via the console itself; those without a PS3 can still enjoy a 30-day free trial of the premium plan on creation of a new account.

Ericsson Launches Mobile Money

Mobile users in Europe can now take advantage of Ericsson’s Mobile Money, a mobile payment solution launched by Sony’s mobile twin.

Currently available in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Sweden and Poland, Mobile Money allows users to load money onto a pre-paid MasterCard in order to make general purchases or alternatively send and receive funds simply and easily mobile-to-mobile.

Ericsson says that it hopes to add features like bill payments and online shopping before the end of the year with additional plans to to launch the service in several more European counties at some point in the future.

Walkman Reintroduced by Sony Ericsson

Sony Ericsson is reintroducing the legendary Walkman brand to the world with the announcement of the upcoming Sony Ericsson Mix Walkman media smartphone.

A simple feature phone where hardware is concerned, the Mix Walkman sports a three inch capacitive touchscreen display built into its slim and light form factor. Multimedia features include a 3.2 megapixel camera, microSD support up to 32GB and a battery that supports up to 13 hours of music playback and four hours of video playback.

A unique feature of the Mix Walkman is its new Zappin key, allowing users to preview the chorus of the next song in a given playlist before deciding whether or not it is something they’re interested in hearing. Additional music-based features include a karaoke mode that lowers the volume of the vocal track in any song to enable an easier sing-along.

Sony Ericsson Announces Txt Pro Feature Phone

It may look like the Xperia X10 Mini Pro but this attractive little feature phone packs a much smaller punch, in both features and price.

The Sony Ericsson Txt Pro is an upcoming feature phone focused on messaging coming from the maker of the popular Xperia line. Sporting a 3 inch capacitive touchscreen and boasting a 3.2 megapixel camera with video recording capability, the Txt Pro really shines when it comes to size, weighing a light 100 grams and measuring in at 93mm x 52mm x 18mm. The small size also adds to the battery life; Sony Ericsson is promising more than 5 hours of talk time and 17 hours of standby on a full battery.

The Sony Ericsson Txt Pro is expected to be released in Q3 2011; pricing details have yet to be announced.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Urushi Revealed

Photos have been popping up online from several sources, including GSMArena, showcasing what appears to be Sony Ericsson’s latest Xperia smartphone, the Urushi ST18i.

Rumored to be a low-cost alternative to the recently released Xperia Arc, the ST18i Urushi is expected to sport these specifications:

  • Google Android 2.3 OS
  • 3.3″ touchscreen
  • ARM Cortex A8 Processor at 1GHz
  • 8 megapixel camera with LED flash, auto focus and 720p recording

Current rumors suggest the phone will see a September release in Europe but no official details have yet been released.
