HTC DROID Incredible Literally Bulletproof

Among its selling points, HTC can now add “bulletproof” to its DROID Incredible spec sheet.

Reports from the Associated Press say that the popular smartphone is directly responsible for saving the life of a man caught in the midst of a shootout. John Garber, a valet at an establishment called Club Halo in Atlanta, Georgia in the United States was leaving the club when he found himself unexpectedly in the midst of a shootout between two men outside. Garber was struck by a stray bullet in the chest but walked away from the incident with nothing more than a bruise thanks to the HTC DROID Incredible in his breast pocket that stopped the bullet in its tracks.

Garber showed the phone to the media, sporting a crumpled bullet from a semi-automatic lodged in the smartphone’s battery; the gentlemen indicated that he would not ever use another brand of phone.

HTC Inspire 4G Revealed

An advertisement spotted in next month’s edition of Rolling Stone Magazine has outed the upcoming HTC Inspire 4G smartphone.

With expectations of a good showing from HTC at CES in Las Vegas later this week, the ad depicts several new phones from the company, including the HTC Thunderbolt for Verizon Wireless; the Inspire 4G is headed to AT&T. Both devices appear to run the Google Android mobile operating system but no specs are offered in the ad.

Details of both devices should be released at CES – we’ll keep you up to date on all the goodies to come later in the week!

Windows Phone 7: No Tethering, No HTC Sense UI

New details have emerged today concerning the upcoming Windows Phone 7 mobile operating system, all of them on the negative side of the spectrum.

First came news, following a report by MobileBurn stating the contrary, that Windows Phone 7 will not support tethering, meaning that the ability to use your phone as a modem will not be present. Given that earlier versions of the Windows Mobile operating system offered the ability to tether, this seems like an odd choice to make in the development phase.

The second piece of news comes from HTC CEO Peter Chou. Following his company’s announcement that it would release the first Windows Phone 7 devices next month, Chou confirmed that the popular Sense user interface seen on HTC’s Android-powered phones will not initially be available on its Windows Phone 7 devices, although HTC does plan to develop at least a limited version for later smartphones.
