Samsung Introduces Galaxy K

Samsung revealed its latest smartphone today, the Google Android 2.2-powered Galaxy K.

Sporting a large 3.7″ AMOLED Plus touchscreen and juiced by a 1GHz processor, the Samsung Galaxy K promises to offer a wide range of capabilities; built-in support for Adobe Flash 10.1 is one example. The Galaxy K also boasts 8GB of internal storage along with wireless features such as WiFi and Bluetooth.

The Samsung Galaxy K will first see release in South Korea at a price of about $700 USD.

HTC Updates Desire Firmware

HTC has officially released version 2.10.405.2 of its Google Android variation for the popular Desire smartphone. This patch offers several fixes and features including enhancements to the multi-inbox support for Google Gmail and improvements to keyboard layouts in several languages.

The update can be downloaded over-the-air via your HTC Desire handset.

Sony Ericsson Aims to Take Over Android Market

Sony Ericsson CEO Bert Nordberg has publicly stated his company’s goal in the coming months: to become the undisputed leader where Google Android-powered phones are concerned.

The comment was made at a press briefing in Beijing, China yesterday, with Nordberg stating that his company currently holds a 17 percent market share of Android phones, with the leader resting at 23 percent. Details as to how Sony Ericsson plans to accomplish this and by what date, if any, were not offered.

Google Mobile News Coming Soon

Members of the mobile industry press corps have reportedly been receiving invitationals to a press event to be held by Google tomorrow promising the “unveiling of a couple of cool new mobile features.”

As is usually the case with such things, details are sparse but speculation abounds that Google is planning to preview a new music service to compete with iTunes, a possible desktop version of the Android Market or the upcoming Gingerbread release of the Android mobile operating system.
